Mongolia is an economy undergoing a mineral-led transformation and it is expected to be one of the worlds fastest growing economies over the next several years. In 2011 it actually held the title of the fastest growing economy in the world with 17.5% GDP growth. The top ten mineral deposits have an estimated value of $1.3 trillion, these deposits alone can multiply the size of the economy several fold, the economy had GDP of $12 bn in 2015. One project, Rio Tinto's Oyu Tolgoi copper and gold mine is expected to add an additional 33% to GDP once it is at full production in 2025.
Both banking and real estate are undeveloped and there is huge potential for growth in both sectors.
